banff.tips is a public visitor guide. The public site is meant to work without asking for your personal information.
We do not need an account from normal visitors. Use the guide, open links, and check details without signing in.
Some preferences and saved items can live in your browser, on your device, so the site remembers what you dismissed or saved.
If you email us, your email address and message are handled in email so we can reply.
You can browse the public guide without creating an account, entering a name, or sending personal details to banff.tips.
The site may use local browser storage or simple cookies for small public features: saved passport/bookmark items, dismissed notices, cached live-widget results, a stable chat/session identifier, and the light theme preference. These are meant to keep the site fast and practical, not to publish your personal data.
banff.tips uses Google Analytics to understand broad patterns such as which pages people visit and whether the guide is useful. We do not use ad pixels, session replay, heatmaps, or full search/chat text for this baseline measurement.
Page measurement is configured without Google signals or ad-personalization signals. The app's internal route-change tracking sends the page path only, without query strings. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the Google Analytics tag is disabled.
If you use a mail link or suggest a change by email, the details you send are used to read the request, reply if needed, and review whether the site should be updated. Visitor, business, and event-organizer submissions are reviewed before publication.
When you use the optional AI planner controls — typing a free-form description of your ideal day, or asking the planner to rework a route — the text you type and the list of stops in your current plan are sent to Anthropic, the third-party AI service that powers the suggestions.
We do not send your name, your email, your saved items, your IP address, your location, or any behind-the-scenes data fields. The plan stops are stripped to a short public summary (id, name, category, area, blurb) before they leave the server. We do not store your typed prompt server-side beyond the request lifetime, and we do not use AI responses to train any model.
The feature is rate-limited and the AI service has its own published privacy practices. If you'd rather not use it, every AI control is optional — the non-AI planner works on its own.
banff.tips links to venue, operator, park, road, weather, transit, and booking pages so you can confirm current details. Those sites have their own privacy practices and terms.
